Consistency:
The holy grail to meaningful effort, positive compound, and successful results.
Consistency is simple, yet it’s hard. Especially when life gets in between.
Not the gently-squeezing-in type, but a full-on three-sixty version.
This should by no means be an excuse for not sticking to something.
But at times, change and uncertainty can be a nerve-wracking couple, causing more turmoil than Bonnie and Clyde.
I prefer to remain calm and navigate wisely when I face change and uncertainty.
In such a scenario, my preferred tools for action are far up on the introvert scale.
You’ll see me retreat into introspection, journaling, and explorative conversations with people I trust and tend to share a vulnerable space with.
If you’re one of the people I encountered in the physical world, you’ll be surprised about such introversion.
You probably know me as an upbeat, enthusiastic, and talkative extrovert. And that’s mostly who I am or “how” I am.
But if that doesn’t serve me well, I must pivot, as the only thing I can rely on is zooming out.
As part of this recent chapter of self-inquiry, I took a careful look at my life from a distance.
This led me to personal insights, newfound energy, and curiosity for writing and sharing bits of wisdom I discover along my journey.
Following this chapter of change, I’m leaving a part of myself behind.
Not in a sadistic and self-destructive way.
But a part that doesn’t serve me anymore.
Last weekend, I was lucky to attend a surprise birthday party for a dear friend.
Although I wrote my birthday card for her last minute, I hope it made a meaningful point. The text goes something like, “It’s not the beauty of a butterfly that makes it precious, but the transformation it has been through.”
Yeah, cliché. But the transformation of a caterpillar to a chrysalis and, ultimately, to a butterfly symbolizes change, growth, and renewal—a powerful story.
Change happens constantly, and when it does, it can interfere with consistency.
Therefore, I hope you’ll understand my absence and allow me to welcome you back with this letter, now published under a new name:
Inquired by Mete Çilingir
Self-inquiry is a pillar of my well-being. Without it, I would be lost.
Upon reflection, this name better represents my deep curiosity and what I stand for, making it the perfect label for this corner you and I share on the internet.
I desire to write and publish more frequently. Simultaneously, given new circumstances, I must prioritize my time and energy differently.
I do not promise a letter per week.
But I do promise that from time to time, you will find a genuine note in your inbox, which hopefully will enrich your life with meaningful insights.
Up next will be a piece on introspection and tools you can use to gain clarity at any stage in your life.
Thanks a bunch & Happy Thursday,
Mete
